This former Indian coach joined Afghanistan, got a completely different responsibility

Afghanistan Assistant Coach: The Afghanistan cricket team has roped in former Indian team fielding coach Ramakrishnan Sridhar. Ramakrishnan Sridhar has joined Afghanistan’s coaching staff. However, Afghanistan has roped in R Sridhar not as a fielding coach but as an assistant coach. The Afghanistan Cricket Board issued a press release informing about the inclusion of Ramakrishnan Sridhar in the coaching staff.

Let us tell you that Afghanistan has associated Ramakrishnan Sridhar not for the tournament but only for 2 series. Which includes a Test match against New Zealand and a 3-match ODI series against South Africa. Let us tell you that Afghanistan had associated former Indian legend Ajay Jadeja as a mentor for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

“The Afghanistan Cricket Board has named Indian Ramakrishnan Sridhar as the assistant coach of the national team for the one-Test series against New Zealand and the 3-match ODI series against South Africa,” the press release said.

The press release further stated that Ramakrishnan Sridhar played 35 first class and 15 List-A matches for India. He was the fielding coach of Team India in more than 300 international matches, including one ODI World Cup and 2 T20 World Cups. Apart from this, he played the role of spin bowling coach for IPL franchise Punjab Kings between 2014 and 2017.

Such was the career of R Sridhar

Let us tell you that R Sridhar did not play international cricket for India. He used to play domestic cricket for Hyderabad. He was a left-handed batsman and left-arm spinner. Sridhar took 91 wickets in 35 first class matches at an average of 29.09. Apart from this, he scored 574 runs while batting in 40 innings, which included 1 half-century. At the same time, in 15 List-A matches, he took 14 wickets and scored 69 runs while batting in 9 innings, in which his highest score was 30* runs.
