Kolkata Doctor Rape Murder Case: The whole country is angry over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. After this incident, Mamata Banerjee’s government brought the Aparajita Women and Child (West Bengal Criminal Law Amendment) Bill 2024, on which politics is heated.
‘It is not right to blame the Chief Minister’
Regarding this bill, TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha said, “I have supported the demands of the doctors. The bill (Aparajita Women and Child Bill) brought by CM Mamata Banerjee is historic. It would not be appropriate to blame any Chief Minister in this matter… the issue should not be politicized. Be it a Chief Minister or a Prime Minister, they cannot see every street and every city… it is monitored. I am a true soldier of Mamata Banerjee.”
If this bill becomes a law, then it will be applicable in the whole of Bengal. Through this, all sexual crimes against women and children have been made non-bailable. In such crimes, the police can arrest the accused even without a warrant and it will be difficult to get bail.
