According to news agency PTI, meteorologists said on Friday (June 16) that due to Cyclone Biparjoy rising from the Arabian Sea, rains are expected in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh from Sunday. Along with this, scientists have expressed the possibility of Biparjoy being helpful in advancing the monsoon in eastern India. Eastern India is currently in the grip of scorching heat.

Due to the absence of any weather system over the Bay of Bengal, the pace of monsoon has been slow since last May 11. According to the Meteorological Department, Cyclone Biparjoy has affected the movement of the southwest monsoon. Director General of the Meteorological Department (IMD) Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that from June 18 to June 21, conditions will be favorable for the advancement of monsoon in parts of East India and South India.

According to news agency PTI, Mahesh Palawat, vice-president (meteorology and climate change) of private forecasting agency Skymet Weather, said, “After giving heavy rains in Rajasthan, this system will start raining in central and eastern Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh from June 20.” Will be the reason This will pull the monsoon winds and help the monsoon advance further into eastern India.

Different views on monsoon

Monsoon in India hit the Kerala coast on June 8, a week late this year. Some meteorologists are attributing this delay and the reason for the monsoon being soft in Kerala to the cyclone, but the IMD’s opinion is different.

Monsoon has so far covered the entire Northeast, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar and parts of West Bengal. Research shows that delayed onset of monsoon over Kerala does not necessarily mean delayed onset of monsoon over northwest India. However, the delayed arrival of monsoon over Kerala has generally been associated with delayed onset of monsoon over southern states and Mumbai at least.
