Odisha Train Accident: The death toll in Odisha Rail Accident has reached 288, but out of this, 83 dead bodies have not been identified yet. Meanwhile, according to news agency PTI, the Indian Railways is using an artificial intelligence-powered website and SIM card triangulation to identify those who lost their lives.
The Railways said that the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) team was called at the accident site to collect fingerprints so that the deceased could be identified. It is not working because in most of the cases the flesh of the fingers has got damaged. Because of this there is a problem in taking fingerprints, in fact three trains were victims of an accident in Balasore on Friday (June 2). There were Howrah-Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah Express and a goods train parked at the station.
How did the accident happen?
News agency PTI reported that the Coromandel Express collided with a goods train parked there after entering the loop line instead of the main line at around 7 pm on Friday (June 2) near Bahanaga Bazar railway station. The Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express also came under the grip of this accident.
What did the Odisha government say?
News agency PTI quoted Odisha Chief Secretary PK Jena as saying that on Tuesday (June 6) all unidentified bodies have been scientifically preserved at AIIMS in Bhubaneswar for identification. Jena said, ‘A helpdesk has also been set up in the hospital to assist the relatives of the deceased. PK Jena also said that AIIMS Bhubaneswar has started the DNA sampling process for proper identification of the bodies.
