Coromandel Express Accident: After a painful train accident in Balasore, Odisha on Friday (June 2) evening, 233 people lost their lives and more than 900 people were injured. Along with this, the Odisha government has ordered state mourning, canceling all programs on Saturday. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced the compensation amount for the victims.
The figure of these painful deaths is telling how big the accident was. Although it was not immediately known how the Coromandel Express accident happened, but late night the Odisha government clarified that three trains had derailed and crashed at the same place, which led to the major accident.
How did three trains collide together?
On the evening of June 2, when the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express was going towards Howrah, during this time many coaches derailed and fell. On the other hand, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express collided with the coaches of this express. After this, the coaches of the Coromandel Express also collided with the coaches of the goods train coming from the front. This painful accident happened near Bahana Bazar station in Balasore district.
After the death toll in Odisha’s Balasore train accident reached 233, the rescue operation is going on here since overnight. There is a pile of injured in the hospitals. On the other hand, Odisha’s Information and Public Relations Department told that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered one day state mourning. That’s why no festival will be celebrated on June 3 in the entire state.
In Odisha’s Balasore, several coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express train derailed near Bahnaga railway station in the district on Friday evening.
