Due to increasing violence and unrest in Bangladesh, India’s border states are on high alert. Meanwhile, a night curfew has been imposed in Meghalaya in view of the situation. This information has been given by Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong. This decision has been taken after a meeting with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and Meghalaya Police.

Night curfew imposed on border

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday said the state government has decided to impose curfew along the international border with Bangladesh in view of the current situation in the state. He said the curfew will be in force from 6 pm to 6 am daily along the 444 km stretch of the border until further orders. The decision was taken during an urgent meeting with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and Meghalaya Police.

Tynsong said, ‘In view of the volatile situation, the state government has decided to impose night curfew on the international border with Bangladesh.’ The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday issued a high alert for all its units along the 4,096 km long India-Bangladesh border in view of the developments in Bangladesh.

PM Modi held a high-level meeting at his official residence regarding the political situation in Bangladesh. Union Home Minister attended this high-level important meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security chaired by the PM. Amit ShahApart from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, many other top officials took part in the meeting. During this meeting, the latest political situation in Bangladesh and the ongoing violence there were discussed.
