Now the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken a big step regarding the health of the artists and crew members shooting in Goregaon Film City. At present, the entire film city is in fear due to the action of IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe. Actually, the Film City administration has sent a government notice (letter) of strict rules on all the shooting sets, after which big producers and caterers are badly scared. Everyone is immersed in the thought that now even the slightest carelessness on the sets is going to cost them dearly.
Panic over food checking
Till now, such strictness regarding the quality of food and cleanliness of the kitchen was rarely seen on the shooting sets, but now the scenario is going to change completely. After this new order, ‘surprise checking’ will be done at different shooting locations of Film City anytime. Teams of food safety officers can suddenly raid the kitchen of any set.
Strict rules of Schedule 4 of Food Safety Regulation 2011
Now it has been made mandatory to follow the stringent rules of Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Business) Regulations, 2011 for cooking and serving food on the sets. The most important things in these new rules are:-
1. Required licenses and registrations
It is very important for every caterer supplying food inside the Film City to have a valid FSSAI license from the government. Apart from this, cooking items (like milk, vegetables, meat and ration) will also be purchased only from those shopkeepers who have FSSAI registration. Complete accounting of this purchase and sale will also have to be maintained.

2. Cleanliness and health of staff
Every employee who prepares and serves food in the kitchen must be checked by a doctor and must have a ‘Medical Fitness Certificate’. Everyone’s nails should be short and trimmed while working. Also, it is mandatory to wear a cap on the head, gloves on the hands and mask on the face.

3. Pure water will be used
Only clean drinking water will be used for cooking. Apart from this, completely different knives and chopping boards will have to be used for cutting veg (vegetarian) and non-veg (non-vegetarian) food, so that both do not mix with each other.

4. Maintaining correct temperature of food
Cooked hot food should always be kept above 60 degrees Celsius and cold things (like salad or curd) should always be kept below 5 degrees Celsius. Prepared food cannot be left open at normal room temperature for more than 2 hours, as there is a risk of the food getting spoiled.

What will happen if the rules are not followed?
The administration has made it clear that there will be no laxity regarding these rules. If any violation of rules is detected on any set during the investigation, the work of the catering unit will be stopped immediately. Along with this, strict legal action will be taken under Section 56 of the Food Safety Act (FSS Act, 2006), under which the consequences can range from heavy fine to jail.

Why is there fear in the name of Tukaram Mundhe?
IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe is known for his very tough image, honesty and taking tough decisions without any compromise. In Maharashtra, rule breakers tremble at his very name. Wherever he has been posted, he has strictly implemented the rules on the ground. The people of Film City know very well that after Tukaram Mundhe comes on the radar, no ‘jugaad’ or ‘recommendation’ will work.
