According to Reuters report, Shigeru Ishiba defeated Economic Security Minister Sanae Takaichi in the first and second rounds of voting. Earlier there were speculations that this time there could be a woman Prime Minister of the country. Yu Uchiyama, professor of political science at Tokyo University, told Reuters that Shigeru Ishiba and Sanae Takaichi will perform well this time.
